Reports to :           General Manager - Technical

​Major Responsibilities

  • To prepare a strategy, plan and facilitate in driving operational excellence projects/programmes such as lean management, etc in co-ordination with the various stakeholders.
  • Convert strategy deployment goals to Business Excellence projects and apply appropriate Lean Improvement models for bringing about sustainable improvements in customer service, staff engagement, productivity & operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with the shop floor for data collection to define baseline performance levels as well as support for defining target improvement levels.
  • Support the respective Process Owners, Concerned BL Manager and the local Lean Facilitators for analysis of data, determination of action plan & implementation of the same on an on-going basis.
  • Coordinate & liaise with the concerned BL Manager, Process Owners & the local Lean Facilitators to determine alternate plan of action, if & where applicable.
  • Provide any technical support related to training the local teams, preparation of workable reporting templates to facilitate the BL Head to objectively track improvements, etc.
  • Follow-up on the timely execution of action plans & milestones, as informed and confirmed by respective project proponents
  • Manage time effectively throughout entire project cycle – From planning to reporting.
  • Provide monthly/periodic updates to the Regional Top Management on the status of progress & extent of achievement against the defined targets.
  • Contribute to business enhancement by providing leads for new or subsequent lean initiatives to be undertaken.
  • Maintain and share knowledge and skills. Train the local lean implementation teams at respective locations (across regions & BLs).
  • Maintain & protect assets of company – laptop and other accessories and any other.
  • Ready for frequent travel. Submit Travel & Expenses (T&E) statements in timely manner.
  • Remain abreast of changes in the relevant areas, as well as developments in norms and regulations, as applicable.

    Criteria for Performance Evaluation (KPIs)

  • Completion of the lean initiatives as per the agreed action plan, including the level of achievement related to the intended benefits, both in tangible as well as intangible terms.
  • Quality of work (e.g. timing, content, quality, relevance & correctness of reports) and following accepted procedures and regulations
  • Contribution to Knowledge Management
  • Contribution to initiatives on continuous improvement, including number of new opportunities identified related to improvement in productivity, efficiency, operational excellence, etc.

 Qualification and Experience

  • Graduate Engineer / Diploma Engineer (Preferably Mechanical or Metallurgical)
  • Min. 5years of work experience out of which min. 2 years of Project management experience in implementing and/or practicing Lean Management (Min. 1 year experience in managerial role is desirable).
  • Conversant with the terminology and the principles related to lean management concepts (e.g. VSM, Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma, TQM, TPM, Root Cause Analysis, Core tools, 7 QC tools, Time & Motion Study, etc).
  • Formal qualification in Lean Management or Quality Management is preferred.
  • Hands-on work experience on min. 3 process improvement projects with tangible business impacts/benefitsfor the organization.
